Dennis Quaid has to be..

..one of the worst actors of all time.

I've played some ball (and continue playing slow pitch softball at 55), and I can tell you that when you can pop the ball the way Jim Morris did, you know it. Quaid always had a look on his face (bordering on confusion) that he didn't understand how hard he was throwing. When he was throwing to the high school kids, or at the major league tryout, he looked like the last person on Earth who knew he had some steam.

Good movie, but that really grates on my nerves.

Lol says the dude playing "ladies' ball". Go out for a fast pitch league please so everyone at you doesn't have to crack up at u talking about any baseball pitch speeds with ur terrible skills. Please just shooo!!! Leave it to the professionals baby ;).

Oh wow! An expert on both acting and baseball. That's a real rarity. If they ever decide to remake "The Rookie", I have no doubt that they will cast you as Jim Morris. By the way, in case you missed it, my reply is 100% sarcastic.

Perhaps dennis had some insight that you don't have. Jimmy Morris was in the movie too, so I'm guessing he talked to Dennis about what he was thinking/feeling at that time.

Wouldn't that be more of an issue with the writer and director? They are the ones who write and direct the scenes and how they should be acted. I don't think it has anything to do with his acting, he was most likely told to act dumbfounded about it.

Come on he can't be that bad can he, but he doesn't release at least 2 crap movies a year like Adam Sandler does, I mean you figure that Adam Sandler's last great movie was Funny People. And I am sure a lot of people would include Rob Schneider on that list as well including a lot of younger people including Kristen Steward.

Man, he was a HS teacher and concerned with changing diapers. The cockiness of youth knowing you're a stud player was way back in the rear view mirror.I thought the unassuming demeanor rang true.

It was in the script that Jim Morris didn’t know how hard he was throwing it, in fact he probably didn’t in real life (or else he’d have tried out sooner). There’d be no reason for him to have someone time his throws, he only pitched in practice for his team.
