Many actors from Everybody Loves Raymond appear, also the creator

I noticed that a lot of actors from ELR appear on this show:

Cheryl Hines (Cheryl David) plays the mother in ELR's "The Annoying Kid"

Jeff Garlin (Jeff Green) plays "Jimmy" the supermarket employee (credited with 2 episodes on IMDb, but I only remember him from one)

Tom McGowan from CYE's "The Thong" (The Grotes guy Larry went to dinner with for 4000 USD) plays recurring character Bernie Gruenfelder on ELR.

Maggie Wheeler appears in "Palestinian Chicken", she is recurring character Linda Gruenfelder in ELR.

Amy Aquino was in two Curb episodes as Susan Braudy, played the recurring character Peggy (cookie lady) in ELR.

Bob Odenkirk: Porno Gil from the episode of the same name, Scott (race track guy and former classmate of Ray) in ELR.

Joel McKinnon Miller is Shaq's Doctor in "Shaq", plays a big role in "The Faux Pas" in ELR.

and to top it all off, creator and executive producer Philip Rosenthal himself shows up in an epsiode of Curb ("Kamikaze Bingo") as a Poker Player, and he has quite a few lines.

there may be more, but these are the ones I noticed. Does anyone know of any connection between the two shows?
