The last shot of the film MADE NO SENSE!!!!!

So, we lead to believe that she quit the airline business to marry Ted. Then suddenly, she's sitting in the pilot's seat smiling into the camera. Was it a dream sequence? Wouldn't becoming a pilot create the same problems as being a stewardess for Donna? Why the hell did they do that?

There is no "off" position on the genius switch.

Never got the impression that she quit the airline biz for Ted, just that she had become a pilot. Nice touch.

She wanted to stay in Cleveland with Ted, but she didn't want her ambition curtailed. She wanted to be the best, so she went on to become a pilot. I would think that would be the top of the food chain of an airline in a city like Cleveland.

I think she flew for an airline that let her be based in Cleveland.
I know years ago if you were a pilot for American you could not live more than 1.5 hrs from your hub city which was Dallas.

We had a pilot friend who chose to live in his hometown with his family and that was outside of OKC, by air an hour from Dallas. So when he was due in Dallas for a flight, he went to the OKC airport, caught a flight and went to Dallas.

it took some work to make it happen but at least he was with his family. 1/2 the time he worked, 1/2 the time he was home running a different business.
The point was she had more say so as a pilot.

I agree that it makes no sense. I agree that it would be the top of the food chain in the line of work she was in, but she seemed to be more into being a FA than anything else, then again, if you think back to her dreams before she even know who Sally Weston was, she just wanted to what, travel, get away, so I guess a pilot is a big step up from what she was doing and seemed to love doing, but it's a totally different job than FA, so it kinda does not make sense.
She might as well have had a high-position job in the airport then.
