I was expecting to enjoy at least part of this movie, but found it to be contrived and silly. Nothing funny, just predictable, with Brittany Murphys acting so over-the-top. Dakota Fanning was the only reason to recommend this movie. Well, except for the dance at the end. I get the "breaking free", but come on, it was ludicrous.

Oh, goodness, I agree - it is terrible. I couldn't even stand to finish.
And it started off on a bad note when the one guy said "He's as celibate as Morrissey". Who was the idiot that put that in?

I'm having trouble seeing the issue.

Because, no one ever could really tell with him, always saying he's celibate or asexual, but then his lyrics are another matter. Also, most people are idiots and wouldn't have gotten it in the first place.
