Mike died. He was my fave out of all of them...wrong time, wrong place.

Agreed, same with mulletman (although he wasn't my favourite). They could have just hopped back in the van and drove off.
shareYeah, I really thought that since Mike had listened to the tapes that he'd know what was happening and be able to save the day. But nope, he got suckered from behind.

It wasn't meant as an action movie where the hero saves the day and everything works out just fine. It was a bleak, depressing, claustrophobic, impending doom type of movie, where you just know that all things will end badly.
shareIt doesn't have to be an action movie. If Gordon was meant to be possessed by Mary's spirit, then Mike's listening to the tapes should have provided him some insight in how to stop her. They made it a point to give Mike's backstory, plus the time he put in with the tapes should have helped him deal with a psychotic Gordon.
