Sonny's Ransom

After Mitchell was killed, couldn't Ace still have paid Sonny's ransom? He had the diamonds from Lulu and probably could have found some money, etc. Why did he let Sonny's kidnapping go like that?

That's a good point. Since Ace had the diamonds from the get go why didn't he just use them to pay the ransom.

i think he had spend the money and the daimonds to clothes,gold and cars

I alway's thought that after Mitch's death the kidnappers assumed they were never going to get their money and so killed Sonny to cut their loses.

Mitch and Ace assumed Sonny was dead once Mitch received the envelope with the bloody finger in it. Plus, Ace had no idea how to get in touch with the kidnappers once Mitch died.

Not all the diamonds tho. He only gave him a few.

First reason being, I think that Ace already knew that chances were that Sonny wasn't coming back alive. He just didn't want to say it but once they cut his fingers off, there was only so much time he could have survived without medical treatment and a month had past between Sonny's kidnapping and Mitch's murder. In the movie it seems like Rich got the finger in the envelope the day he was killed by Alpo but I think in reality, more time had past.

Also, once the police got involved, the kidnappers weren't making much contact, if any at all so Ace wouldn't have known how to get in contact to pay the ransom.
