O pa?

don't know if I'm spelling this right but just wondering if anyone knows what the saying "o pa" means?

reply

It doesn't really mean anything; it's just like saying "huzzah". Just an exubulant exclamation.

We usually say that when we dance, it doesn't really mean anything. Watch this and you'll understand.

Opa! is the Greek equivalent of saying Ole! or Yeehaw! and the like. My car license tag has been OPA for many years and was no big deal. When this movie came out, I actually had strangers pull up beside me and say, "Hey, you Greek?" It was funny, I felt a little like a new species for a while...

"Nolite te bastardes carborundorum" - Don't let the bastards grind you down

Opa! is a Greek word for cheer, it is used in multiple countries within the Balkans and Eastern Europe with Greek influence such as Cyprus, Bulgaria, Albania, Russia, Serbia, Romania, etc.
