Doesn't Age Well

It's hard to believe that a film only 12 years old ages this badly - but it all just feels so ancient. Are there really 30 year old women that are this down-trodden in their families, just because they are Greek? And Nia Vardalos really starts to irritate after a while - the way she just sits there most of the time, staring and not saying anything for the longest beats. I suppose passive resistance might work better with a family like that - but the movie just tries way too hard to look past the blatant prejudice and make it cute. 'HaHa -Dad thinks women shouldn't be educated. How cute is that!?' Not.

I saw this movie yesterday for the first time. I heard how great it was and decided to finally give it a viewing. I don't see how you can say it ages badly. A first time viewer gives it a good perspective than someone who saw it 12 years ago.

I 100% agree with Volvican .. Though, when i first saw it i already thought it was over-the-top with its cliches and stereotypes and trying to be cutesy-wootsey.

This may as well have been the pilot of a sitcom, and in effect it was.

It ages just fine. Its as good today as it was in 2002. Great movie!

I love both [I saw the first in the theatres..] I forgot that Paris existed, by the way, in the first as a much younger kid before the seventeen year old we have now..(14 years after all between the two..)

Amanda Bynes is hot and Lindsay Lohan is not.
