emery is my favorite character by far, he and nick. he's just so funny to watch. i actually saw him in the aviator and good night and good luck and he's a pretty handsome man once they've taken off the fat suit and glasses.
I'm shipping off to Boston to find my leg!
Emery was a great character. He is the loser of the bunch who is actually a very talented psychic. like I said in a previous post "tell it to someone not broke"
shareOMG, I loved Emery, he is by far the best character, he had the best and funniest lines and he is damn sexy, emotionally broken, but still one hell of a good looking guy.
I am envious of the Actress who was in bed with him, damn her rotting corpse to hell! He is mine *punches rotting corpse in face* Ouch. =P

Yeah, I thought he was funny. Had all the best lines.
HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED IF EARTH IS ANOTHER PLANET'S HELL?
No, his character was annoying as *beep* Otherwise the actor himself, is wonderful. After he lost a lot of weight (which I cannot figure out if he gained weight for the role of Emery or was already overweight) and when he starred in Aviator I squeed. He was quite the handsome guy.
Embrace the pain, spank your inner moppet, whatever, but get over it.
Emery was the comic relief I think. My favorite part (and the most funniest) is when Emery was freaking out about his mother being at Rose Red. Nick (?) points out a car and he says something about a scoota bug or whatever. It ends up with him saying 'stop looking at me'---that is hilarious!!! I laughed so hard. I'm laughing right now. He was soooooo good!
shareI didn't like Emery at all. He was a self-obsessed whinger who made things worse for everybody in the house. BUT... that was the joy of the character. We all like to boo the bad guy, don't we? If everyone had been lovely, kind people half the plot would have been ruined. And, yes, he did become nicer in the end.

I am ambivalent about Emery. On the one hand, he was an obnoxious little snot, who needed to have his butt beaten; but then I think of poor Emery living with that harridan of a mother. My word!! Anyone would go crazy living with that witch. Treating him like he was five years old, making reference to his bowel movements in front of the whole group, telling him to stay away from the blonde lady because she looked like a slut, saying that she had to check him to make sure cleaned himself properly, even 'down there'. In short, Mrs Waterman knew how to be a pain in the patoot.
While I did not like his behavior, particularly towards Annie, I must say that I understand all to well the source of his anger.
Such an old thread, but I thought I'd put my two sense in.
With characters like Emery, he's just one of them that you love to hate. Yeah, Emery REALLY starts off as such a whiny, bitchy momma's boy who gets under everyone's skin, but it's those kind of qualities in a character that makes them to be viewed from our perspective as being a character that you just love to hate. There definitely needs to be characters like Emery in movies and television to keep things intense and interesting and them to be a catalyst towards the other, nicer characters. And these kind of characters can change by the end of the show, or just simply wind up dead.
I think Matt Ross played Emery to a T. If someone asked me who I thought gave the best performance in "Rose Red," I'd have to say Matt did. Just overall, I thought "Rose Red" was really well cast.
I absolutely adore movies. Even bad ones. A good bad movie you must admit is great. -Roddy McDowall
yeah I liked him - he was so Bill Gates ... ;-)
