Won't there still be a curse?

At the end of the film- it says that the mansion will be demolished soon and condos will be built over the demolished site. But wouldn't the curse still remain because that ground was cursed before the mansion was built?

reply

Yeah, but it's not being demolished due to the curse. It's being replaced with condos that will fix Steve's money problems. What happens once he sells the property doesn't concern him anymore. :P

Hello Harmful,

It's the land upon which the house is built that is cursed. Ergo, regardless of
whatever is built on that plot, it will bear the curse, since it was never removed. True, after Steve sells it, it will no longer be his concern. However, I still suspect that he will be contacted eventually by the new owners about the property.

Yep, the curse will still be there because it's the land that is cursed... so whatever is there will eventually have problems and become haunted. Which would be awesome if King did another film as a sequel to what happened on the land once the condo's were built, all these people being haunted :D

What about the little ghost girl in the closet, and why did she wanted to play with the girl with powers and each time they got close they somehow bonded and when the gost kept getting chased away by others the little girl cried.
There is a huge plothole there, the story of the ghost girl never got explained, all we know that the maid was accused of her disapearance and that was it.
WHO killed her? WHAT happened to her and WHAT did she want with the girl with powers?
None of it got explained.

reply

It might explain it more in the prequel, either the book or movie, unfortunately I haven't read the book or finished the prequel movie so can't explain why April was killed, I can only assume it was the same force that killed everyone else in the house before Ellen died and became the evil presence in the house. But as for wanting to play with Annie... she just wanted a friend, someone to be with her in the afterlife.

reply

I can just about answer an emphatic yes to the question. The condo is still being built on the Indian burial ground, and I sure feel sorry for the tenants who will move there. I would welcome a sequel.

But in 1408 only one room is cursed and not the whole building.

The house killed the men but kept the women. The women would disappear mysteriously. The little girl simply disappeared and became part of the house just like all the other women.

I assumed that it was just the form that the house used to lure Annie.

I was fully expecting another movie or book focused on what happened with the condos and people who lived there, lol.
