Not at all a Creep-fest

I realize this mini-series was over-hyped during its heyday release as the ghost-story of TV ghost-stories. Well, watching it again in 2015... I beg to differ.

This is not at all the 'ghost tales of ghost tales'. In fact, during many parts I became bored, almost fast-forwarding. Must of it is more a comic-fest than anything creepy. Esp Emery, his screeching mother, Victor, and Pam. Discovering the house, and Ellen Rimbauer to be Vampires.. explaining the mystery disappearances. Vampires? Really??? Yes, the ending was quite daft.

And the obvious puppet-ish movements and weak 'ghostly' moments were a yawn. I honestly wondered where the creepiness was. The only decent moments were Emery getting his fingers snipped off in the door, and the two ghosts in the wine cellar door that creeped out Emery's mom.

For masterful Stephen King, this was an overall disappointment. Even its diary sequel was far better.

It reminded me of a Lifetime Drama, not horror. I remember that actress from "Three men and a little Lady".

That was better than this.

I have to agree with you. Very disappointing. I had to fight myself from not finishing it, but I did, barely. Very boring and not at all the horror I expected from "The Master."

I didn't see it as horror at all myself, it was more fantasy with some mystery and comic over the top characters.... The house was cool and creepy but there was nothing scary about this movie. It was like a 4 hours Goosebumps episode.
