The Reckoning: the Ugly Continued

In the book, few knew Thomas had a purse, as he most likely had it up his sleeve, while in the film, everyone knew, he had it, as he had it out in the open and clutched tightly to his breast.

Some of Nicholas' arguments, in the book, are given to others, such as Tobias.

Nicholas takes a more active part in the film, than he does in the book. For example, it is his idea, and not the King's Justice, to exhume the boy's body and examine it for evidence.

In the book, the law (in person of the monk) comes to arrest the father for political and religious heresy, but, as he is not home and to prevent the finger of suspicion being pointed at himself, the monk arrests the girl. Therefore, a new reason had to be found for the film, so it is for witchcraft, and not political and religious heresy, that she is arrested.
