Question about the End

I just watched the Reckoning on TV. The audio quality wasn't great (I don't know if it was the film or my TV) but at the end, Vincent Cassel's character pulls Paul Bettany close to whisper something in his ear while stabbing him and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what the heck he said. Does anybody know what he said?

reply

"You want to know why I did what I did? Because I wanted to...and because I...could."
Yeah, I had to blast my tv up as well.

reply

Thank you 'a pirates wife'...I thought it would be a more significant line than that. ah well.

reply

i believe that dvd has subtitles...but yeah it's the movie, not your tv...i think it was intentional...

But Lucy this is without a doubt the most significant line of the whole story!
Think about it; when the corporate boards pat themselves on the back and give themselves bonuses and stock options even when the company is going down the tubes this is the answer that is in their hearts when asked why they do it!
If you had seen Fuld being interrogated but a congressional panel and being asked if it were fair for him to get half a billion dollars over the last couple of years while Lehman was failing he was saying this same line in his mind.
