Thomas Wells raped?

Hi, I saw this movie for the first time last night, and during the scene where they were doing the play to tell the crowd the true story of Thomas Wells, the actors showed a scene as if he the guy who played Wells was in a sexual position with the suspect. So was that to imply that Wells was beaten and raped before he was murdered?

btw, Pual Bettany does an amazing performance in this movie. I like movies that are dark and set in the medieval ages. This movie rocks.

Yes, he was raped. When they exhumed the body and were looking him over they looked at his backside, there was bite marks and obviously some other horrible trauma. Quite amazing how good that body looked after 3 days with no refrigeration. Don't these film makers watch CSI?

so, was it De Guise who did all of those horrible things to Wells, or was it the monk?

I got the impression it was the King. I figure the monk was used to round up the guy. Why would anyone question a man of god? The actor who played Nick rocked. I was busy doing something else and didn't get to watch it closely but I think the town justice acted like it wasn't the first time the King did this and that it was a small price to pay for how well the King has treated his people. But it sure sucks for Thomas Wells and the other kids fed to this lunatic sociopath King.

it wasn´t the king but the local lord...thetown justice was waiting the wright moment to catch him

It wasn't the town justice, who was going along with the whole thing, it was the king's justice, there to spy on the lord who was planning to overthrow the king. Arresting the lord for the boys would end the plot.

Lol, yes, thank you lemner. Apparently these folks don't read the cast credits - Matthew Macfadyen (of Pride and Prejudice fame) is quite clearly listed in the credits as "The King's Justice" and no other name. I'm guessing these posters slept through history class too.

The movie makes a particular point that the English king tolerated DeGuise's "excesses" as long as he as needed his support in war...until his misdeeds spilled over into actual treason. Now they can't get rid of him fast enough, and this murder provides the perfect opportunity for them to act. This is why the King's Justice gets annoyed with Nicholas when he fears the investigation has been compromised and the only witness (the monk) killed.

I suppose the body could be in relatively okay shape after 3 days. Did you notice there was snow on the ground? I suppose the winter weather provided enough refrigeration for a few days.

Bear in mind the body was buried in cold ground, under a layer of snow. Were they bite marks? I was puzzled as I thought they said "White marks."

It was winter and snow covered the ground. There was plenty of refrigeration.

If you can't walk and talk/text at the same time, do the rest of us a favor and get out of the way.

It's a 20 yr book and 10 yr old movie. Why on earth would there still be a need for spoilers? And why would you come the a discussion board on it if you haven't seen it.

After a decade or nearly a decade you proceed at your own risk.
