Anyone else see this when it came out in theaters?

I remember seeing the trailer for this when I saw Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secret and of course the part with the rapping Kangaroo made the theater go crazy and me and all my friends wanted to go see it.

Well, we went to go see it when it came out and I just remember being kind of bored obviously as this was much more of a run-of-the-mill buddy comedy than it was actually about a Kangaroo. Also remember my friends mom saying she regretted taking us as she thought it was too inappropriate (I was only 7 or 8 at the time I think). It was probably the first time I remember seeing a movie and thought about how misleading the advertising was.

I only saw it when it came up on Netflix this week so we watched it together as a family and it was awful. Netflix had it as PG rated and made to look like a fun kids' film. The knife and gun threats, and balls and boobs stuff was a bit regretful. Worst of all was the humour. At least it kept the kids entertained for a while.

Yeah aside from my friends mom thinking it wasn't appropriate, I remember there was some controversy when it came out over the rating since it was being promoted on kids tv stations

Yeah. I remember me and my friend were super excited for it because we thought from the commercials it was going to be about a talking Kangaroo messing with the two guys. I remember after we left the movie my mom was telling us how we probably didn't realize it, but there was a lot of stuff it in it that wasn't for kids.
