I just watched this movie for the first time, and granted it was better than I expected, I didnt enjoy it too much, but this movie had quite possibly the funnies line ever. When they first see the dingo's, and Anthony Anderson ask's why they are looking at him like that, and Jerry O'Connell replies that he is a salad, and Anthony is an all you can eat buffee, Anthony sais, "... they'll eat me like they ate the baby".
I would have to say that was the funniest line I've ever heard in the movie, simply because of the back story...
The only thing to fear, is me... 'cause I'm the Boogey Man, and I'm comin' to get ya!!!
LOL yeah, i remember that part. It was on TV 2 days ago and i watched it. i love it when the kangaroo does the impression of Dr. Evil at the end. hah priceless.
there was a rumor in Australia that some Dingos had eaten a baby i don't kno its true but thats what was said. I used to talk to this girl online who was from australia and she said noone ever made it a fact but that it was a rumor.
Nine-week-old Australian baby Azaria Chamberlain disappeared on the night of 17 August 1980 on a camping trip with her family. Her parents, Lindy and Michael Chamberlain, reported that she had been taken from their tent by a dingo. An initial inquest, highly critical of the police investigation, supported this assertion. The findings of the inquest were broadcast live on television — a first in Australia. Subsequently, after a further investigation and second inquest, Azaria's mother, Lindy Chamberlain, was tried and convicted of her murder, on 29 October 1982 and sentenced to life imprisonment. Azaria's father, Michael Chamberlain, was convicted as an accessory after the fact and given a suspended sentence.
The media focus for the trial was extraordinarily intense and sensational. The Chamberlains made several unsuccessful appeals, including the final High Court appeal. After all legal options had been exhausted, the chance discovery of a piece of Azaria's clothing in an area full of dingo lairs led to Lindy Chamberlain's release from prison, on "compassionate grounds." She was later exonerated of all charges. While the case is officially unsolved, the report of a dingo attack is generally accepted. Recent deadly dingo attacks in other areas of Australia have strengthened the case for the dingo theory.
Lindy Chamberlain being sent to jail has to be one of the biggest legal mistakes in Australian history to me. Did you know, one of the forensics 'experts' didn't know what a dingo hair looked like, so they plucked one of their own out! And that's just one of the many mistakes.
I suppose you have had to have lived through that Azaria Chamberlain period to realise what a incredible double tragedy it was. It totally split the country. This was before the internet, so you only got your info from the television coverage and the general media was determined to demonise Lindy (mother). Even though a close friend of mines father was one of the forensic pathologists on the case and I was getting it pretty much first hand that she was innocent, I still didnt quite believe in it until years later (the fact that they were Seventh Day Adventists didnt help). She didnt have a chance. I also cringed through that Seinfeld reference, I couldnt believe they would be so tasteless. So I suppose what I am getting at is the joke is just not funny at all. I like my humour black, eg I howled through "Happiness", but this is just is just ignorant, wrong and in bad taste.
"So, does anyone want to tell the story for us poor unfortunate Americans who have not heard the story."
ROFL!!
Yeah it's was big story...I've heard of it and am aware of it...seeing as I'm Australian but it happened nearly twenty years before i was born. When i heard a reference about it made by Elaine, years ago, during that episode of Seinfeld I was so shocked! It was funny, the accent was horrible though! Haha. Like every impersonation of an Aussie.
In London an urban fox recently tried to drag 2 babies out of their cots after entering a house through the open back patio windows , injuring them terribly (one of the twins needed intensive care for over a week) - giggity google 'fox attacks twins'
That which does not Kill me makes me Stranger . . .
It is also used in "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" because "Dingoes Ate My Baby" is the name of Oz's band.
I, myself, hate the reference and have never found jokes about it very funny as it refers to the horrible death of a 9 week old baby and subsequent ruination of an entire family....but hey, that's just me.
My God , the ignorance of N.Americans never ceases to amaze me ! WTF do you do with your minds ? Do you have media ? Education ? f ucking astonishing .
That which does not Kill me makes me Stranger . . .
Morons like you make me laugh. People like you that cringe at the thought of an Aussie or Brit being stereotyped or a certain phrase being used in an accent like it's the worst things in the world, yet what are you doing? Bashing North Americans and lumping us all into one big pile of "stupid fat people." So it's not ok to say something like this, but it's ok for you to generalize us?
Yes, it was a tragedy, but you act like it's the only tragedy that has ever found itself being someones punch line. But it's ok if it's a punchline about Americans, but tell a joke about someone over there and we're all stupid North Americans.
I can't remember why i wrote that - or why it's on the board twice - but judging by all the posts deleted by admin i'd say i was replying to something pretty offensive that is now gone . So you 'get a clue' .
That which does not Kill me makes me Stranger . . .
That was not a funny line at all, hardly the best ever. How are audiences in 2003, most of whom are children or teens, going to understand a reference to current events of the 80's?
When they first see the dingo's, and Anthony Anderson ask's why they are looking at him like that, and Jerry O'Connell replies that he is a salad, and Anthony is an all you can eat buffee, Anthony sais, "... they'll eat me like they ate the baby".
I would have to say that was the funniest line I've ever heard in the movie, simply because of the back story...
The back story is quite grim - a dead baby and its innocent mother jailed for life.
Not exactly what I'd call "the funniest line I've ever heard in a movie", but whatever tickles your pickle.
