Daniel Craig's performance is very similar to Ledger's joker

I dunno why but they remind me of each other.

I know this is an old post, but I felt the same way. I first thought it when the kid noticed and asked him why he's always smiling and he replies with "because it's all so *beep* hysterical."

reply

i thought jude law's character was more similar to the joker

reply

Same here!

reply

I think that the Joker is a combination of the two characters.

reply

oh my word..how could u guys compare it with jokers performance...first of all , craig didnt have any screen time...and secondly, ledgers performance is by far one of the best performance ever done for cinema, so very very absurd..u compare a 10 or 15 min flick with a whole history of the cinema!

reply

lets be honest, every other actor in the film reminded all of us of ledgers jokers performance.

reply

Ah, no. How can you make that comparison MC? They are totally different movies.

Reminds me more of Joaquin Phoenix's portrayal of Commodus in Gladiator. Both very good, underrated performances.

reply

Yes, now that you mention it, I can see that also. Both Phoenix's and Craig's performances are basically the definition of the word 'coward'

And yes, they're both very underrated (although Craig's is a bit more underrated).

I seem to be in the minority here and I may get "flamed" for this but I seem to be one of the few people not that enamored with Ledger’s performance as The Joker. Hard to explain why. It just didn’t do much for me.

reply

It was a good performance, but is highly overrated due to his untimely death. I cringe when I hear people put it in the same sentence as Brando in On the Waterfront, Pacino in Godfather Part II, and De Niro in Raging Bull and Taxi Driver.

reply

I agree wholeheartedly with the last two posts.

reply

Yes Danny, I agree wholeheartedly. People don't like to "speak ill of the dead" so they are reluctant to be critical of his performance. Ledger was good and his performance was a bit eerie in some spots and intense in others. If he had more time, he may have become the equal of say Nicholson, De Niro or Brando but he wasn't there yet.

As far as Daniel Craig in this movie, I don't think he was anything special. I'm not a big fan of his so maybe I'm biased.

If you're comforted by things that never change and remain the same, go to any film's IMDb page where somebody played a villain pre or post-Dark Knight and there will be some dunce or a brigade of them comparing _______'s performance to Ledger's Joker.
