I think it is odd that Michael Senior did not react to that thought.

Yeah, that's my guess as well. Maguire probably headed straight there after the hotel shootout while Sullivan was hiding out at the farm house recovering from his wounds. Maguire couldn't very well sit around the house waiting for Sullivan with Aunt Sarah around, so he probably axed her and photographed her.
