Going to watch it, but cannot imagine Tom Hanks in that role!

I know I'm jumping the guns, but after knowing a little about the plot, I cannot picture Hanks in that role... I'll post back how did I see it. :) Did anyone else wonder so before/when they watched it?

No, I jumped with both feet when it came out in 2002. As a result it has become my FAVORITE Tom Hanks film.
He was so different...I was just mesmerized by his portrayal of theis gun-toting "family man". For the life of me I couldn't find any resemblance to him being Forrest Gump or Carl Hanratty or any other character.
The music, the cinematography, the setting, everything about it screams classic.
As a matter of fact I watched it today along with the special features.

It's now the 17th OP--did you like it and Hanks in this role?

Like Cinamon, I can say that Hanks is indeed a actor. Yes, he has a style, but some people falsely think that means lack of acting. If he can go from Apollo 13 to Forrest Gump, do this film, and then do Cloud Atlas (in which he plays 6 different parts), then it's called acting.

And what's all this (from another thread on this board) about him being a 'soft' actor? He's done several other hard roles. Rather that list them, just see his filmography: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000158

Be sure to proof your posts to see if you any words out

Not to mention a great voice actor as well. People don't think he's versatile, but I think he's one of the most versatile there is.

This is what makes Tom Hanks one of the best.
