Wake Piano Playing Scene is Amazing

An amazing scene. No dialogue, facial expressions of all characters are enough. From Sullivan's wife looking at him with a mixture of jealousy/affection/'he loves Rooney more than he ever loved me'(before the piano scene begins we see her dancing with another man, almost trying to get her husband jealous) to Connors malice filled smile 'Sullivan is the son my dad wanted/deserved' look, to Paul Newman and Hanks locking eyes as the song finishes and Newman realising that Sullivan was the son he raised right. No words, only glances, brilliant, brilliant stuff

It is a really great scene. However, I never sensed jealousy from his wife. when Sullivan's wife is dancing with another man, I think that it was emphasising the differences between personalities. She was more of an affectionate free spirited person, where he was more serious and calculated.

I think it may have also been in the commentary that this scene emphasised this. You see his youngest son and his wife dancing (they are like each other) then you see Michael Jr and Michael Sr being serious and not wanting to dance. it's again emphasising the point that Michael Sr says to Michael Jr later in the movie how he always thought they were alike, and that's why they have had a strained relationship. It's quite a nice reflection when you look back at this scene.

Then of course, Connors jealousy in that scene! Daniel Craig is great in this movie and plays the character so well.
