Most underrated film ever?

Yes. Tom and Paul outdone themselves. Most underrated movie of all time though is "The Pledge".

A beautiful movie on ever level, visually, musically, and emotionally. Great Hanks & Newman Very impressive Mendes jewel. As a gangster flick it has a very special place in the genre.

Hear, hear. Love this movie. Hanks, Newman, and Law were very good. I'm guessing the low rating can be attributed to the dark content and the particularly dark ending. I think another masterpiece - Leaving Las Vegas - has an artificially low rating for the same reason.

it's a masterpiece and while many seem to fling that word around pretty commonly i don't use it much so it's still worth something when i use it since i rarely do.

one of the main reasons i say it's a masterpiece is simply because it combines the cinematography/score and moments in the movie really well which very few can pull off this well.

so if you count this as a gangster movie it's easily my #1 movie of that genre and it's my #1 Paul Newman movie he appeared in but going by starred in that would be The Hustler (1961). hell, it's my #1 Tom Hanks and Daniel Craig movie for that matter.

ill be 38 years old later this year and my most recent re-watch of Road to Perdition is Dec 30th 2015. it remains top spec as movies of this quality are quite rare. in fact, Road to Perdition is only one of ten movies i gave a 10/10 out of the 2,025+ total movies i have seen.

It should be in the discussion of top gangster/crime dramas of all-time yet is never is.
