Is this ending realistic?

Not that the spell and everything could happen in real life, but guys if you were Hal do you think you would have stayed with Rosemary at the end? I'm not sure how much I believe the ending....I mean yes inner beauty is more important than looks, but I mean come on....there has to be some kind of physical attraction, otherwise you're going to be miserable. If you thought your girlfriend looked like a supermodel, then discovered she was obese, do you think you would be happy staying with her if you liked her personality enough?

It could be realistic in the sense that Hal is so shallow that he's actually just pretending to accept Rosemary, but only to keep his job.

No I don't think it is. In real life you wouldn't stay with an overweight woman. She was more than overweight. An unhealthy weight. I don't care how nice a woman is but that was just not right. Would you wanna be with someone who was unhealthy and way over weight? If she was only a little fat then maybe.

So you're saying men never date fat women? I see large women with spouses and boyfriends all the time, so obviously some men like them... and it's not as though Jack Black is a hunk (by conventional standards), who would be getting supermodels in real life. What's unrealistic about it?

Yes, of course fat women can have husbands or boyfriends but usually in those cases the man is also very overweight. The reason I found this unrealistic is because while Hal is not what most people would describe as a "hunk" he's not anywhere near as overweight as Rosemary is. People usually seem to end with someone that they are equal to in looks. Of course there are exceptions but that's what I've observed. So sure Rosemary could find someone, but I would expect it to be a guy who's really obese like her.

For me, the unrealistic part about the ending is that Hal is sworn in and ready to leave with the Peace Corps all in one day.

As Peace Corps volunteers, they're likely to get an assignment involving lots of physical activity and a limited food supply, After a couple of years of that, they won't be fat.

Seeing her naked would make me vomit. I am all for love but rolls of fat and cellulite are extremely disgusting as are BIG FAT asses. The woman can find men to service them though because there are certain groups and cultures who think that BIG FAT asses actually look desirable. Those cultures are sub-humans and constitute about 60% of the prison population in America.

I kept hearing about those subhumans and thought they were a myth until i saw your post. You might very well be the first and only one i've ever come across in my life. Now i know they do exist. How you populate 60% of the prisons is beyond me though. But i guess pure hatred must take a lot of space, especially if coated with all that raw stupidity. So yeah, it figures.

She seems alright but too heavy for me considering i'm pretty skinny. Mismatch!
