Why did Yvette leave her son with Rodney and his crew?

In the scene where Jodi goes to pick up his son from Yvette's, only to find RODNEY and his merry band of thugs: why the HELL would she leave her son in the house ALONE with them? They were smoking weed and everything!! What kind of woman would do that??

reply

LOL... i thought the same thing. If i was Jody, I would have been PISSED.

-Another thing about Yvette, if she REALLY wanted Rodney out, why not call the cops instead of leaving your son with someone you don't like anymore...lol.

Jody was pissed. The bottom line is that Yvette has legal custody of the kids. And, it wasn't like she wanted Rodney around the kids, either. She was sort of seeing Rodney to get back at Jody for all of his cheating, and the plan went horribly wrong. As is the case with anyone when they put personal grudges over responsibility, Yvette wasn't in her right mind.

And, call the cops? LOL. So they can yank the kid right from both Jody and Yvette and put him into a foster home with a whole bunch of little Rodneys?

That's one of the points of this story. It's a disturbing dilemma in a very imperfect world that is South Central Los Angeles. We hate to think of it this way, but the story creates a scenario where killing Rodney is the only logical solution. Rodney eventually tries to take Jody's life. And he's bound to try it again. What do you think the police do to help? All they can do is look for Rodney but he certainly knows they're looking for him after the shooting so he's hiding like a rodent. The only other real option is for Jody, Yvette and their son to just bolt out of LA. With what money, though? Again, a disturbing dilemma but that's what makes it a good story.

Why would the cops take Yvette's son away? She could have easily called the police and asked them to remove Rodney. Simple as that. But instead the idiot decideds to use him as a babysitter. Great Mother.

Michael Scott: What is a Pap smear? Or is it shmear?

reply

The police would call CPS because the small apartment and the gang members being present. Hey, Yvette was not in her right mind. Bad mother? Duh. I don't see what point you're trying to make there. Why not point out that the sky is blue, while you're on the painfully obvious? She's young, she herself likely grew up with a mother like her, with thugs around (you bet I'm making excuses, it's called reality...). It's a messed up situation. She went to Jody, and Jody handled his business. In a perfect world, you just call the police, the police show up, remove the bad guys. Unfortunately, a lot of cops in the LAPD would view Yvette as one of the "bad guys", too.

reply

hahahahahah "foster home with a whole bunch of little Rodneys" that was funny man.

reply

It would be a lot funnier if it weren't true.

RobSac i dont know what ur talking about, but she WAS NOT "seeing" rodney to get back at Jody. Rodney showed up and wouldn't leave. simple as that. but u guys are right. she should've just called his PO like she said she would.

reply

when jody comes to pick him up. no way jojo would have just sat there watching tv until jody called him.the minute he heard his daddy at the door he would have ran to him. especially since he dislked rodney.

reply

What I don't understand is why Yvette didn't call Rodney's P.O. when he FIRST got there, and told him that she didn't want his a$$ in her house!

I love your man's face, so when you kiss him how I taste?

reply

yeah i said that every time i watch this movie, but what i dont get is where was yvette anyway i mean she wasnt at work cuz if so why wasnt jojo at school or daycare. i mean what was she just out hanging, that whole scene made no sense and still dont to me atleast.

reply

Because she was trying to make Jody jealous, for his cheating, etc. ?It obviously backfired on her.

That bothered me also, Dei88. Doesn't the PO check with the resident to see if it's OK for the released person to stay there? Especially in the case of someone who doesn't own the home in which they're living. Yvette could possibly be violating her lease.

The scene with the thugs watching her child confused me. If she's at work, then why wouldn't she take her child wherever he always goes when she's working? And if she's NOT working, then why not take her child with her?

Yvette = STUPID

Jodi = ???????

I saw you breaking the 5th Commandment. Congress passes these things for a reason.

reply

That always bothered me too. I would not leave my child at home alone with a guy like Rodney and his crew. Even if I had to take my baby to work with me.

I found God in myself. And I loved her. I loved her fiercely.

reply

Because she was stupid, and Jody was stupid and a bad person. Christ! Why did my mom make me watch this.

reply

She was probably too scared to call the police because then Rodney's friends could try to hurt her further down the road.

Its possible but she shouldve taken the risk. getting rodney out of the home AND protecting the child shoulda been her main focus. you cant just let someone stay in your home out of fear....even though many women in real life do that

reply

Yvette was the same one excepting this man's calls in jail...
she also knowingly let Jody treat her like trash...
so why would anyone be surprised she'd leave her child with dirt like Rodney?

reply

Yep. I had liked Yvette up until that point, but lost all respect for the character after that scene. I am surprised Jody didn't say anything about it.

reply

because shes black
