Don't watch this movie if you've ever been abused.
It will just indulge all the self destructive thoughts you have.
shareIt will just indulge all the self destructive thoughts you have.
shareDo watch it as it will be a cathartic release. Isabelle Huppert does all the self-destructiveness so you don't have to.
sharehahahah, well yeah the kid was pathetic, and the older woman WAS asking for it....
couple of destructive people, and its the older woman's fault in this one, she was the one with the responsibility and trust..

wow, there is NOTHING, absolutely nothing in the whole human experience that can excuse what she did.....
except it is the human experience, it is the human condition, to perpetuate human cruelty.
child abuse begats child abuse, BUT it cannot be an excuse....

btw, the other explanation is that the mother prevented her from forming a union with a flame in highschool?
her mother's need for her help and assistance, is one explanation for her isolation, and sexual desires and needs.
she is after all an accomplished pianist and teacher, whose life is "Normalised" somewhat.
Well, yes, the film did "reference the father", the night when Erika got home from the theater, her mother slap her and says "your father dies tonight". then the movie just go on. no funeral. Erika is not showing sadness for her lost or anything. In my opinion, that pretty much says it all.
shareI was abused, this film was fun!
shareI don't see the connection.
Sort of like "don't watch Roots if you're black"? I really don't get it.
