Erika's Father *SPOILERS*

Her father is briefly mentioned but it seems to me like he had a lot to do with why she was the way she was. She craved male attention so much, but she wanted to be dominated by them as well. When she couldn't get that she went for her mother because she was so desperate. I think her dad must have done something to her to make her the mentally unstable woman she was.

I rather thought that the parents were a classic dysfunctional pairing of the over bearing and intrusive mother coupled with a reserved and emotionally unavailable father who does not stop the mother's intrusiveness. Erika's problems lie with both her parents, as do anyone's. She craved a certain type of attention not necessarily male I felt. She wanted to be abused although it seemed from the sad ending that what she needed was to be loved for who she was and not as an extension of someone, which is how her mother treated her.
