I wonder when would have been a good time to release a Deep Space movie since It would have been interesting to see Sisko return from the Celestial Temple even though that happened in the DS9 novels. I also think it would have been cool to see how Kira's command style was different even though she eventually became a Vedek.

shareI think that's the biggest problem with the TNG movies. TOS could get away with the action focus because the show had a much more "adventure" feel. The TNG crew was completely ill suited for an action movie.
I'm not sure if a TNG movie that was consistent with the series would have had wide appeal or would have just been another niche movie. I guess it doesn't really matter, since what we got were such box office stinkers.
I can't imagine a DS9 movie doing any better.
TNG had a really solid fan base, yet the studio was very leery of allowing a TNG movie without some tie-in to TOS. By Nemesis, it was pretty obvious that fans weren't interested in seeing another "action" TNG movie.
I'm more surprised that they didn't go the reboot route sooner than they did.
