The movie that killed StarTrek
Enough said.....
shareNope. It was 7 years of that tripe, Star Trek Voyager that did that
shareI agree. You can't place all of the blame on this movie. There's still Voyager, Enterprise, and all of the other TNG movies to point fingers at. Nemesis was actually almost a good movie.
shareCompletely agree. FC was good but it tiresomely had the Borg in with a very weak Cochrane. Lily was fine. Nemesis should be released with all cut bits re-edited back in
Voyager is the most enthralling, personality and teamwork driven TV series of all time. I have absolutely no clue why some dislike it. Nemesis is far worse.

Voyager would have been far better without Janeway, Paris and Neelix.
shareI think Nemesis would have been a good movie had it had more of the character moments that got cut in favor of the action scenes which was ashame since it was practically the last time the crew would be serving together on the same ship after 15 years. I do think that one more movie would have been nice since the original cast got closure but why didn't they. Actually TNG was quite popular as a series but didn't make the transition as successfully into the films because of the many continuity errors and lack of references to the tv series which was a common theme in the original films. I do think it would have been nice to see the cast of Deep Space 9 have their own film which would have been cool to see.
shareDidn't kill it. They're still making Trek movies.
... or you could just let real writers write stories. I hate fan fiction.share
what killed Star trek produced by rick berman was Enterprise, which was a shame considering in the 4th season it actually started to pick up pace and the stories felt like trek again.... Enterprise with Xindi storyline in season 3 that was the final nail in the coffin, Its was a full season with death and destruction that caused people to turn off...
They changed the format for season 4 and it started to work but little to late..
I thought it was better than THE MOTION PICTURE, FINAL FRONTIER, and INSURRECTION at least. Perhaps even GENERATIONS, which similar to this has a great premise but isn't executed as well as it could have been. (I'd probably call it a tie between GEN and NEM)
shareFranchise fatigue (a movie series along 7 seasons of DS9, 7 seasons of Voyager, 3 seasons of Enterprise all within a decade), not to mention competition from the resurrected Star Wars franchise all conspired to kill the franchise.
shareThat about sums it up - "Franchise fatigue". But it doesn't help that this was a weak film as well. I also don't think that any of the other Trek offshoots(DS9, Voyager or Enterprise) had the appeal or success of either TOS or TNG, hence why no films from them.
shareNo, that would be Star Trek 09. But this movie did suck though.
shareSorry to disagree with you here, but I believe it is, and was the hard core fans who actually hurt the franchise. For the past 20yrs, there has been so much negativity coming from them, that it's caused a ripple effect. It doesn't matter what series, movie, or director that they were complaining about, it's just that they were, and are ALWAYS comparing and complaining about something. They will say it's their right, they will stand by their negative comments, and they will surely never let anyone 'tell them' they're being overly critical. But I have sat back for those 20yrs reading, and watching, waiting for they're remarks and complaints to register in their own heads.
When will they realize that it's THEM,,, and their negativity that is killing the very thing they say they love?
Because folks are basically mindless bots who will believe anything they hear, they don't realize that they are the ones who created the monster. They are the ones who started the witch hunt. They lead,, mob follows. Try saying/writting something positive instead of 'OMG, the uniform color was to teal looking. Really?
Sigh... so sad they are hurting things for the many of us who still enjoy the movies they put out. Oh well,, guess that's just life?
Never interrupt silence unless you're
going to improve it
