Don't know if it's ever been discussed before

Don't know if it's ever been discussed on any of the Star Trek board before.

On naval ships the standard practice of a man over board is if seen to throw them a life preserver.

With that concept in mind and considering that Star Fleet has been around for hundreds of years and their technology. You'd think that in situations such á hull breach anyone you inadvertently got sucked out they would have sensors to immediately detect and beam then directly back onto the ship.

I understand about decompression etc. But it's not immediate. It seems in the Star Trek universe this is never addressed. Where's in the real world if we had the technology available to us I'm certain that would be available to Star Fleet vessels particularly their flag ship.

You'd think that by then they'd have technology that would let a crewmember create s force field around themselves with enough oxygen to survive until a rescue could be mounted. Seems like they had that back in TAS.

"Lovey-dovey. Bonk bonk on the head!"
