question:

how come everyone thinks this is going to be such a horrible movie?

reply

That's what I'd like to know. The bits I've seen on, it was either ET or E! News, it looked kinda funny to me. It's probably just the Ben bashers saying all this stuff.

reply

I agree, I think it's just all the Ben haters out there. I for one can't wait to see it.

reply

I think even more than the "Ben Bashers" it had a very bad script until it was rewritten, or at least that is what I heard. I think the trailer looks funny and it has James Gandolfini and Catherine O'Hara (one of the funniest people ever) in it so I'll see it.

Ben bashing is so second half of 2003. It's time for them to move on.

reply

I'm pumped for it but I'm not pumped that its being released in October. What a lame move. If they are worried about it not getting good bank against the competition in November/December, I still think it is a wrong move cause its going up against The Grudge and such...plus, its really not even Christmas season yet.........

sigh.

I'm not saying the movie will be bad but I've learned never to trust a trailer. They just paste all the funny parts of the movies together but once your at the movie, you've already seen all the funny parts because they put it in the trailer...it's not always the case but I'm always cautious when I see a trailer I like, especially if it's a comedy. Hopefully Catherine O'Hara's role is bigger in the movie that in the trailer.

The good thing is Catherine can make any role funny, so at least we have that to look forward to. I think they put James hitting Ben over the head with a shovel to entice those who hate him. I'm indifferent and am only seeing it for Cath and James.

I think its gonna be good, and so do my friends, who are all big movie buffs. We're going to go see it the first night it comes out.

I think it'll be good too. I think half of the people who criticize these movies are pompous, cynical, jerks. I love these festive, silly, doesnt-make-you-think-alot movies. I'm not saying I'm a better critic, by far, but I'm sick of these critics judging fun movies and really praising and commending the "serious" movies. I'm sorry but I hated The Pianist, and yet it won some oscars. It's ridiculous. I can't wait for this movie to come out.

It seems that Dreamworks also doesn't thik the film is very good. Otherwise they'd release it closer to Christmas. To me, releasing this film in October is an indication of the studio being unhappy with the film. If they aren't happy with it, it probably isnt very good. I may be wrong and Im not gonna pie on with the Ben bashers. I don't know many specifics of the film but releasing it in Oct is a vote of non-confidence by the studio.

Well have you seen a Christmas Movie one of these years?

They pretty much all sucked.
