Ben Affleck IS funny.

I've seen Ben Affleck at his funniest whether it was imitating Chris Moore on Project Greenlight, mimicking an Armenian car salesman the first time he hosted SNL, the monologue he did the 2nd time he hosted SNL, or the ever-so-funny escalator skit the 3rd time the man was on SNL. He's a class clown. He wouldn't have been invited back to SNL 3 times if he wasn't. If anything, low-key comedies like Survivng Christmas should've been at the top of his list since day 1. He is naturally funny, silly, and goofy. You can even see it in his face. He puts on this goofy mask and suddenly BECOMES funnier than usual. I have hope that this movie is going to bring new opinions to people who are iffy about Ben's "comedic skills". James Gandolfini and Ben Affleck paired up in a movie is enough to make anyone finch a giggle.

Here, here! I agree with you 100% about everything, and what's really funny is I *just* posted a message about the car salesman skit and bennifer monolgue under the thread about his best snl skits over on the Ben Affleck message board! How funny is THAT! :D

The SNL skit I loved was where he did James Carville.

Most of Ben's movies are quite funny.... unintentionally. Come on... Pearl Harbor, Armageddon, Payback.... some of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time. Nothing comes close to Paparazzi though.

He can be funny when he plays an over the top style character. It's amazing how quick people are to trash popular actors.

Excuse me. I don't mean to impose, but I am the Ocean.

Look, there will always be people who criticize anyone, but it is not like I am trashing Kevin Spacey or Morgan Freeman here. Ben Affleck is not a very good actor.

Ben Affleck is certainly not the next De Niro, but given the right movie, (Kevin Smith definitely uses him well, he did his best dramatic turn in "Good Will Hunting") he can hold his own. Unfortunately his choices lately have been horrendous. But I watched the trailer to this movie, and I think it has the potential to help him make a comeback. For the scenes I saw, he seems to have nailed the man-child down perfectly. Now here's hoping that the Christmas format in October release doesn't doom an otherwise okay, if not great movie.

Ben is the funniest whenever he is making fun of himself or Hollywood. He seems to be like the guys at South Park where making fun of themselves and lampooning Hollywood tightasses makes for the best HA HA's. Just like his cameos in Jay and Silent Bob and when he sends himself up on SNL.

That scene from the trailer in this movie where he and Gandolfini are singing "Oh Christmas Tree" is just painful. Not painful in a funny way, just painful. That one scene alone makes me not want to see it.

I think Affleck is at his best in Kevin Smith film commentaries.

He doesn't hide behind polite language or the risk of offending others, but he's open, nice, and humorous about it all.

His commentary with Smith on the Jersey Girl DVD was more entertaining than the movie as he talks openly about the Jennifer Lopez debacle.
