My $0.02 on this movie (p.s. I LOVED IT)

Everyone at DreamWorks are a bunch of morons for releasing a Christmas movie in OCTOBER, but this movie was REALLY GOOD! Yes, I know what you're thinking, "She's an Affleck fan, of course she liked it", but oh contrar! I disliked a few of Affleck's flicks, and some I refuse to even watch because of their badness. But, this movie was awesome. The cast was so funny... they all were, even Mr. Soprano himself. I knew Ben was going to do well in a comedy that isn't just a Kevin Smith flick. There were some really funny moments that the commercials do no justice to. And I guarantee that there were no unnecessary cheezy/sappy scenes that a Christmas movie should not have. Nothing close to the corny clapping scene in "Jersey Girl" that I am still super bitter about (GRRR KEVIN WHY WHY WHY?!?!?!). Entertainment Weekly gave it an F while they gave a movie like "Eurotrip" somewhere in the B's. Maybe for a sex-driven teen movie Eurotrip was worth a B (although I still disagree), but as a dark Christmas comedy I think Surviving Xmas did not deserve an effin' F. That's just a shame. What the *beep* else do they expect from a CHRISTMAS movie???? They always either expect something dumb-funny like Dumb & Dumber from a comedy, or something remarkably genius like a Mel Brooks piece. Everyone is so quick in prejudging this film because of Ben Affleck that they miss the point that IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A MASTERPIECE AND/OR EXTREMELY HYSTERICAL! It's a Christmas movie. Remember that. The only flaw I could think of that this movie has is its release date. Let's just pray Surviving Christmas can survive until Christmas to boost in the box office, because this was infact a good holiday movie.

Your totally right. Just look at the rating on this site. 42 people rated this movie a 1???? I thought that Gili was a bad good movie but it was at least a 3 or 4. These people are mindless little lemings who can't form there own opinion and are biased by the gigantic media backlash on Afleck. I just saw Jersey Girl this week... and I liked it...I had waited and seeing it because everyone was telling me that it was terrible. I've just relized that with Afleck films I have to see it for myself because I'm never going to get an honest opinion.

I saw it yesterday, was pleasantly surprised. I though it was quite funny at times. I will say this, Ben is not to good in it. I just did not like his performance. Gandolfini was great though. So was Catherine O'hara.
For the record I am not a Ben hater. I have liked a lot of his films, he just does not have good performances at times. I found this one funny in spite of this. Just my opinion anyway.

Sure it wasn't Ben's best performance, but come on, he really didn't have that much to work with, though what he did have, I think he took to some great places. I'm just really happy he's back to doing comedy. The man is a laugh and a half, and people need to recognize that he has mad comedic skills, and SNL shouldn't be the only place where he's able to show them off.

Most people who joked about how bad Gigli was didn't even see it either. I can't stand people who comment on something they haven't even expierenced first hand--its one of the most moronic thing a person can do, and shows just how much people just allow others do their thinking for them!

My point exactly santsa70, people follow the crowd and don't form their own opinion. But that is normal as most people are not overachievers or thinkers for that matter. Hey, eveyone has a place. For the record, I saw Surviving Christmas for a second time today and well, it stood the test. People laughed at the right times in the theatre, and well, Ben is ok, he's trying his best and that was good enough for me.

Peace.
