I don't want to rent this -- I saw it in the theatre and it wasn't that great. However I thought I saw on the end credits that the movie was based on a novel by some name other than "Surviving Christmas." The next day, I saw "Skipping Christmas" by John Grisham and I thought that was it. The lawyer drawing up the contract -- yeah, that made sense.
Now I see that "Skipping Christmas" inspired "Christmas with the Kranks."
So did "Skipping Christmas" inspire this movie as well or was it some other novel?
Christmas With the Kranks IS based on the John Grisham novel, "Skipping Christmas." They were told they had to change the name because it was TOO similar to Surviving Christmas. I don't know what Surviving Christmas is based on. They are obviously knock-offs of each other in some way.
