Not only does it ruin any salvagable part of the movie, it also ruins the song! People killing themselves to 'It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year' was a horrible idea! I hate it! And it didn't even have anything to do with the movie really. Whoever came up with that one is a complete idiot.

shareI'm really sorry you hate this opening. I see why you do, and I'm sure a lot of people never get any further in the movie because it is disturbing. I think it is meant to be. I've made the point before on this board, but Ben Affleck's character is alone on Christmas because he is alone the rest of the year--he has better deflecting mechanisms in place at other times. During the course of this movie, this character CEASES to be alone. It touches me, as a single person, deeply.
