I think that the last 30 minutes or so of this film are pure comic genius. I watch this on DVD every year.

I agree!!! I have absolutely NO IDEA why people don't like this movie. Besides the fact that it makes me laugh out loud every time, it is very sweet. Ben Affleck is hysterical. The whole cast is perfect in their roles. Christina Applegate is the perfect love interest, and the two have a great repartee. It is genuinely touching as well. It's just plain fun, and a true feel good movie. I watch it SEVERAL times every Holiday season. For anyone who likes this one, you will also really like COMFORT & JOY with Nancy McKeon. I also watch that several times every Christmas.
