filming location

Just a little info about the filming location. They will also be filming this movie in Arlington Heights, Il in January. It was in my local paper and not yet listed on the site, in case anybody was interested in knowing.

It's been 100 degrees here in So Calif. and they are preparing to shoot this christmas movie here in Orange CA. I hope they don't make all the extras wear down jackets or parkas....I went this morning to my coffee shop to have a cup and they were building a manger and decorating the entire Orange Circle for Christmas....I was wondering why they hadn't taken down the all the Christmas Decorations in our town. So shooting here on Tues. Wed. and Thurs. This is a popular place for movies....recently the Cohen Bros. shot "the man who wasn't there" here....This will be interesting...I suppose

wow it looks like my fellow extras are here, I get to work on it Tuesday with a possible call back on Thursday in Orenge. It is always the way that if it is really hot they are going to make us wear really warm cloths and if it is cold, they make us wear really light clothes...so judging by the the title surviving Christmas, we are going to have to wear really warm cloths, and it is going to be a very hot day. This is how the profesioal weather people, get their info on what the weather is going to be like;)

I drive through the Orange Circle every morning to work, and was suprised to see that there was snow on the ground one day, with crews and gaffers and grips oh my! All of them running about...just a matter of time I suppose for them shot anything at this location. It's definitely got that small town feel, yet in the smack middle of Orange County. There was a big show by the Police today, so I suppose that some big names are at the location today.

just wanted to let you all know that Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this past week (the 11th- 13th of Feb.) they were filming Surviving Christmas at my school (Mayfield Senior School in Pasadena, Ca.). The crew came on Tuesday, set everything up, then filmed Wednesday after school. All the girls at my school had already figured out that it was this movie and that Ben Affleck was in it, but all the teachers told us that he wasn't going to be in the scene that they were filming. But it ended up that he came Wednesday after school to shoot the scene and all the teachers lied to us because they knew that all 300 girls in my school would have stayed to see him. I guess the scene is very very small (like 30 seconds I heard). On Thursday, the crew was there to clean up everything and put everything back like it was before. If I find out anything more I will post it later.

They were in Glendale on Friday, Feb. 7th, filming near the JC Penney's entrance of the Galleria. (Actually, in the parking lot behind the Rite Aid that's across the street from the JC Penney's entrance. :-P) At 6pm they were cleaning up, so I didn't see any action, but the security guard told me there was hardly any fans to watch the action, maybe 15, but the stars (Ben Affleck, Christina Applegate, James Gandolfini) were all there and signing autographs. Over the weekend they shot a scene up in San Fernando at a church.

Does anyone know the exact pre-production address for this movie? I would like to send out pictures for autographs to some of the cast members.

Thanks,

They filmed for a few days in the Edgebrook neighborhood of Chicago, on the northwest side. The house in the movie is at 6748 N Ionia Avenue, intersection of Ionia & Waukesha. It was the third and fourth weeks of January in 2003 and the weather was so cold (on one of the days the temperature was 4.5 degrees above zero) they cancelled the rest of the Chicago area locations (including Arlington Heights) and high tailed it back to southern California.
