VERY FUNNY MOVIE ACTUALLY!!!

I ACTUALLY HAD TIVO'D THIS MOVIE OVER THE WEEKEND, WATCHED IT LAST NIGHT AND FOUND MYSELF LAUGHING OUT LOUD IT WAS SO FUNNY. BEN AFFLECK WAS SO SILLY IN HIS CHARACTER- IT WAS REFRESHING TO SEE HIM IN A DIFFERENT TYPE OF ROLE. GRANTED THE MOVIE WASN'T AN OSCAR CONTENDER, BUT I WOULD DEFINITELY RECCOMEND IT TO ANYONE WHO DOESN'T HAVE A COBB UP THEIR BUTT AND LIKES A GOOD LAUGH. JAMES GANDOLFINI WAS HILARIOUS TOO. :>)

yeh i agree with you CherylAG. at first i thought to myself THIS IS GOD AWFUL but then when it was done i did have some good laughs and thought that it was funny and good.

i too found myself enjoying the often unenjoyable ben affleck. i thought this was just a good, funny, family movie. i mean not every movie has to be a life altering experience, right?

reply

This movie had me laughing. James Gandolfini was pretty good in this one, but I am biased because I am a huge Sopranos fan. I think maybe it was good to see him in something new until the next season. Tony Soprano in middle America, classic.

Yeah whatever you're a *beep* b*tch anyway you piece of sh*t co*ksucker. This movie is awesome. And Tony Soprano is a P-I-M-P. So feel free to s*ck this sh*t soon, you p*ssy. Woo!

I love these new christmas films. It's funny how down to earth they all are instead of the "we go a carroling along" christmas films that are other worldly. This film showed Christmas as Christmas, a time in which the familie's dysfunctionality is brought to light so everybody can see.

There's a new Christmas movie coming out that sums Christmas up in one line:

"Why is it that everyone goes nuts at this time of year?"

reply

ShellysNewBoyfriend come on! Its just entertainment. I must admit that someone who uses a quote from Pulp Fiction at the bottom of his posts probably is never going to be convinced that Surviving Christmas is a good film.
However, it is just as mindless as comedies such as Hitch, Wedding Crashers, Bruce Almighty and other such overrated films.

I think people forget that comedy is about laughter and this one DOES deliver. To anyone who hasn't seen this film and is a little bit curious - Please go and rent it. Do not believe the negataive publicity. The fact that the trailers do not give too much away is a benefit.

To readdress ShellysNewBoyfriend what is so good about this film? Nothing if you didn't like it. But I thought Gandolfini and all the supporting cast were excellent. Affleck (if you like him) does a good obnoxious goofball (you are supposed to not like his character at the start). Doo-dah was hilarious, especially when he became black.

Good, funny film.

Yeah but did you buy it the first day it came out on DVD? I think I'm only one of a very small few who bought it on the first day.

This was pretty funny, I have to admit. It was just an okay movie, but it was hilarious thanks to O'Hara, Gandolfini, and even the two kids (Applegate and Zuckerman).

The best line, hands down, and the funnies part of the whole movie:
"Brian, if you eat all of that, I'll let you sleep with me like you used to when you were little." Or something like that.... But I was CRYING at that part, seriously!

reply

I would have cried and taken out a lawsuit against the producers of this film if I had paid a full price movie ticket for it, but I admit just sitting at home and watching it as the holidays approach was pretty funny. I laughed out loud when Brian dropped his computer from the second floor (and with good reason if you've seen the film). Ben Affleck, who to me is the acting equivalent of a hang nail, was actually funny and refreshing in this flick. It's okay for a rental. Gets a C+ from me.

"Two Little Mice fell in a Bucket of Cream..."

This movie is like a fine wine. You'll see with the time that it's pretty good for a christmas movie.

It's entertaining, but back in the days the hate was much on Ben Affleck and for James Gandolfini for trying something else... plus Catherine O'Hara and Christina Applegate. How can you not like a movie with an A+ cast. Also, that awesome cameo by Udo Kier. Among my top 5 of christmas movies with Christmas Vacation, Love Actually, Home Alone & A Christmas Story.

Last Movies: - Star Trek Into Darkness: 4/5
- Pain & Gain: 3,5/5
- Oblivion: 4/5
