In the movie, you see Mickey Mantle in the hospital and at one point he takes off a bandage and there's a huge bloody hole in his leg. What was that all about? I've seen the movie several times and I still dont understand what that hole was all about.

shareYes it was a bad infection, a complication of the shot he recieved. He tries to hide it from his teammates and the staff for a while before he takes time off to heal.
