leading 4-2 in the 9th Roger misses out on the record

Could have done with D-Rob did for Jeter on his final game in NY, Blow the save, so that he would get another chance at hitting that 60th home run.

Ha. Good point. But it would've tainted the record. And the whole point of Maris' record is, there is no stain on it. At all.

As for Jeter, that was a different kind of situation, and I was happy to see it.

Even if Maris had hit 60 HR in game 155, people would still consider that mark tainted because Ruth hit 60 HR in game 154. No matter that Ruth played in game 155 (and didn't HR), the criticism that Maris needed more games would remain intact.

Robertson did not blow that lead on purpose.
