i must confess i had never heard of Ruth Gruber until i saw this film, and it's incredible. the story of one woman and her first against opression, her fight against the life others thought she must life and her belief in America. serioulsy children should be shown this when there in school.

I think it's better than its reputation suggests. Though the most interesting part is really once they get back to America. The first hour and a half could have been axed.

Agreed. I haven't seen it since it originally aired but I still remember it. Surprised it hasn't been shown more often.
