Elle arriving at Harvard with the moving van...

OK, I can see people wondering who she was.

But the whole "let's all stop and stare and openly ridicule her" thing was so utterly ridiculous. And the topper is the guy who KEEPS calling out such idiotic things like, "This ain't California, honey!" (or whatever it was). What MAN so brazenly mocks a woman like that...and in front of everyone, ESPECIALLY his guy friends?

Full disclosure: I'm a guy and have watched this movie at least a dozen times with my wife. One time, I bowled a 179, showed my wife the score card, and we BOTH yelled out, "179!". We LOVE this movie. But THAT? Oh, man...that was stupid.

People are idiots, period. The way she was dressed will make people stop and look though but not ridicule her.

People are *beep* They make fun of people who don't fit in. In this case, Elle was the high maintenance girly-girl. Stereotypically, those aren't the types to go to law school, so they mocked her.

Lol, that's funny. I do things like that with my sister and one of my old friends. Everything reminds us of something from a movie, tv show, song or past real-life situation.
