My Opinion

So, a couple months ago I watched Killing Me Softly on tv one night. Very interesting but yet weird movie. Kinda put it out of my mind, then recently I saw Joseph Fiennes in another show and it brought the movie back to my mind.

I came upon the IMBD disussion board about the movie and saw there was a lot of questions regarding the movie. Here are my opinions about those questions...feel free to disagree or elaborate.

Was Deborah Gay/Bisexual? - I think the answer to that has everything to do with Adam. I think she saw anything that Adam had/owned as partially hers. So Alice, by extension of being Adam's wife/lover was actually looked upon as someone who might have been desirable to her. However, I believe her sexuality was more heterosexual than bi-sexual. If Deborah hadn't been Adam's wife/lover, any sexual feelings would have been non-existant.

Too much graphic sex? - I don't think so...I'm not into porn or even very sexual movies, but I think this movie had to focus on the sex as much as anything else. The sex was what Adam was addicted to...and if you watch the sex scenes, Adam and Alice may have been beautiful people but it was almost disturbing to see such raw and animal sex. I think that was the point. For it to be disturbing so that you knew that there was something not quite right.

Did Adam really rape that other girl? - I don't think so...I believe that the girl was in it for the money. She kept asking, when is she going to get paid and how much? I don't think I'd trust her information if it was only for a buck.

The Ending...if you don't wish to have the ending spoiled, please don't scroll below....

One last chance....

Ok...

Was the ending appropriate? - Yes...I think it was. I too was a little disappointed with the ending at first. But I've thought about it a little more and I think this was the only way they could have ended it. I was glad to hear that at least Adam was not guilty of murder and that his sister was the one that did it, but Adam was by no means innocent. Incest, feral beatings of muggers, etc. But I was happy to see that there was a glimmer of something good in him...I truly believe that he loved Alice, but their love was too raw and animal to be a safe love.

Anyways, that was just my two cents. By no means do I think this is all true, just how I looked at the movie.

It certainly is a strong movie. First time seeing Heather Graham. She is just incredible in that role. Joseph Fiennes did also a great job.

The ending reminded me of something else. As far as I remember, I haven't read the book, but the plot has been used before. And I still wonder about the murder? Why ends the body there? Brother and sister must have been doing it together, or else the same thing has happened before, as it was intended to with Heather Graham.

Still a great movie, great acting
