He made an UGLY woman lol!
I'm Rick James Bitch!
can't believe Ving did this movie. I thought it was a joke. That must have been a big check. You would have to give me a billion dollars to put on a dress
sharei'm actually quite impressed that he did this movie. after seeing him in pulp fiction, mission impossible, dawn of the dead, and con air, it's obvious that the man is badass, but one must wonder, can he do anything else? i think doing this film, along with "chuck & larry", gave lots of credit to his acting ability. i have even more respect for him now than i did before.
he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghostsshare

Yeah thats what I was thinking!they must've paid him big,he played the part well though!lol
Ms.Malinda
Tallpall-you are an idiot. Ving Rhames earned my undying respect when he played this role and I have watched the movie repeatedly. I know look for his other movies even though the films are usally bad choices. He is a star and should have won major awards for this. He's an artist. And -by the way-I'm not gay, male,or black. Just a former actress who appreciates film and talent.
shareVing Rhames got my respect as well when I compare his role in Holiday Heart to other roles. He was phenomenal in this and I agree that he should've gotten many accolades and awards for the part he played. To see him transform into such a character was a sight to see and he played the hell out of it.

I love this movie...
And I think that it adds to an actor's repetoire if they can prove to be more than a 1-dimensional character. If they can step outside of there usual roles and become another character and play that part well.
))00 Kings from Queens, from Queens come Kings 00((
Not just Ving Rhames but Alfe Woodard they both did a great job in that movie.
shareyea, i love this movie too. but is it me or did he kinda look like patti labelle when he was all dressed up?

I wasn't going to say it out loud, but I thought the same thing, he did look like Patti in some scenes, like how comedian Sheryl Underwood looks like Wesley Snipes or should I say Wesley looks like Sheryl when he donned a dress in 'To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything Julie Newmar'.
I was so pleasantly suprised to come across this movie today. I've never heard of it, but I thought I would give it a chance and watch it. I thought it fit more into the drama/comedy genre, especially since it's done by Robert Townsend, which explains the "campiness" feel of it. I thought Ving did an amazing job, expecially the part where he and Alfre are sitting on the couch in his living room right after her boyfriend moves in with her, such an emotional scene he did, tears and all. I totally get why he did this, to show he can.
shareAlfre Woodard is one of the finest actresses alive today. I believe each and every one of her performances. She made a great foil for Ving Rhames.
shareI thought he was great! I knew some old school drag Queens and he had it down pat. I am watching it now. Love the movie! Í was very moving.
