Scooby vs. Durrell's Scobie?
In his excellent "The Alexandria Quartet", Lawrence Durrell introduces Scobie, an ex-Navy officer now working for the British police (and Secret Service) in pre-War Egypt. Scobie is, as Durrell terms it, in possession of "inverted" sexuality, i.e. a homosexual.
Could this perhaps be the basis for the name Todd Solondz chose for his teenage character?
