Really? I think it's actually very weak. Not a patch on Happiness or Palindromes, both of which were astonishing, great films. This was just...bulls**tty.
All the criticisms I've heard levelled against Solondz' work - that he's exploitative, misanthropic, petty, only interested in shock for shock's sake, pointless...all pretty much right on the money for me with Storytelling.
I haven't seen Palindrones, but I think this was Hilarious, I mean even the conversations between Mikey and Consuelo were side-splittingly funny. Exactly what do you think was BS?
I think those critics are sourpusses who are either offended or threatened by the director. I thought it was a nice piece of social commentary, exploring and examining the lighter side of suburbia and modern life. I can't see how it was in any was 'petty'.
