In the novel it states at around 1840 he has about 80 million francs which converted to US dollars today is over 2.3 billion and change, and this is after he's been spending money for over 10 years on multiple houses, boats, servants and just giving away diamonds are part of his plot (like to Caderousse and Danglar's wife).
