Was the black women his wife?

If not, why was she in the movie? Wouldn't the sister be old enough to babysit and cook for herself and her little brother? The father said a small apartment was all he could afford right now. If he would have fired her, he would have had more money to save.

It would have made more sense to me if she was the wife/girlfriend.

nanny...im assuming the daughter and the father had to work so she wouldnt be able to babysit her brother. I didnt understand why they would hire a nanny/maid vs just a babysitter but whatever.

Did you actually watch the movie? Im asking because it was obvious and stated in multiple parts.

Haven't you ever seen a Hollywood movie? She was the sassy Black woman who doesn't actually do anything because it might mess up her nails. Just like there's always a:

Dumb Jock
Jive-talking hip hop guy
Hero
Ditsy blonde chick
Odd-looking clownish sidekick
Evil, intellectual villain with a European accent

reply

It's stated several times that she is just the nanny. At the beginning the lawyer asks if she is his wife but she clearly says "I am not the Mrs." Plus Arthur had just lost his wife, which you can tell he was affected by, so he would not be married so soon after her death.

reply

She seems useless.

reply

Not necessarily, she messed up the bad spells in the end and scracthed up the record not to mention she was funny

reply

Every Hollywood has to have a black character. Even if they don't want to, they're not allowed to escape the rule.

reply

To me, she wasn't funny. She was annoying.
