The 12 Ghosts backgrounds

I've mentioned this before in a thread, but I wanna hear others' opinions:

Did anybody else have a wicked hard time remembering/keeping track of the imprisoned ghosts? It seemed like we saw random flashes of them for the first hour, then we're given a half-minute run through of their titles, which only tell us so much. After watching the film the first time, I looked on IMDB for the ghosts names, and I didn't even remember the Pilgrimess or the Juggernaut, and couldn't recall which one was the Jackal. I felt like I would've had to watch it a whole nother time to get them straight. And even the ones we saw repeatedly - the boy, the naked girl, the nail-head dude, etc - I really wanted to know more about their backgrounds. We only got graphic flashes of intriguing looking images, but then are told nothing of their lives, deaths, vengeance, ecc. And i really wanted to know! They certainly could've added extra time (it was only 90 minutes!) to gradually introduce the ghosts, giving us enough time to get to know them a bit, ya know? You can kinda guess about the "sad princess" ghost, cuz of the bloody bathroom and such, but for the rest you have to watch the xtra features or look it up online to actually know more than just their titles. It would've improved the movie, i think, to delve a little deeper into the ghosts themselves.

Did anybody else feel this way? Like the stories of the ghosts are rushed, even though they ought to be a main (or atleast more major) focus? Dimmi!

Very helpful. Thank you.

This is by and large the most interesting part of the whole story. It seems like a lot of thought went into the ghosts themselves, but then the characters, the plot, the dialogue and the directing took a backseat. This is a prime example of wasted potential.

Great Child and Dire Mother bios contradict each other. In one(Great Child I think), the Dire Mother was kidnapped and hidden in a trunk as a prank on big Harold but she suffocated and Harold took revenge on those who kidnapped her. After killing them all, the rest of the circus workers literally ripped him to pieces. In the other telling, the mother doted on Harold to the point of keeping him in diapers and feeding him into adulthood. Well, she was feeding him and he began choking, eventually choking to death and he fell on her and smothered her to death.

Like mentioned you should've just purchased the DVD.
The ghosts are the most interesting in the entire thing.

Well it was only one movie, so they didn't have much time to do all of that. Although I do agree that the ghosts backgrounds are the best part of the whole thing. I really enjoyed learning about them on the DVD extras. Maybe if they did an entire series, they could accomplish it. Perhaps a TV show like American Horror Story. Though I would want it to be on HBO or a similar network, so they could push the envelope. And even though it's been years since I've last seen the movie, even though I have it on DVD. I still clearly remember The Juggernaut, and The Jackal, and what both of them look like. The Pilgrimess, not so much. And after looking her up, I now find that there's a 13 Ghosts Wiki.

The ghosts and their backgrounds were the only thing I liked about the film! I thought they were really interesting stories and I wish they could've been focused on more than they were! I hope they do a series of the movie but each episode focuses on each of the ghosts individually so we can get more insight into what happened to them and their characters! It's been 13 years since the film was released (54 years since the original), so I don't see why they couldn't do it!
