Because he "loved" them..he mainly wanted to get revenge on Dorothy cause she sent him to reform school. But decided to go after them all cause they were who he blamed and had the vendetta against. They rejected him and he is a sociopath. They don't mix.

It's VERY loosely based on a book where a group of girls set him up and humiliate him, entirely differently to do the film. No boys are involved.
But in slasher film terms, you don't often get movie plots were the killer targets only men, because horror is all about women shrieking and running, wandering into the dark with a candle - and the one female who fights back. It doesn't work if you flip the genders.
That said, the boys should've at least been mentioned as having been murdered or something as what they did was far more humiliating. The women are ALL coded as nasty bar Kate and all are punished for it (bar the stepmother, who was killed in a deleted scene), yet men like Lily's sleazy boyfriend and the guy who lures Paige upstairs are allowed to live... It's really quite viciously conservative.
yet other men were killed. what is your point. the maid and stepmother obviously killed because they were in the way. the guy tied up was blindfolded, so he wasn't in the way.lily's boyfriend, was far away from lily when she was killed, therefore not a witness/threat. even though later in the movie he was hitting on kate, the killer was too busy killing everyone else to find out he has hit on her. so why would he die at that moment.

Yeah, the killer seemed to be sexist (and maybe the movie as well?). The boys were much more vicious.

You defend Dorothy and the girls and they were the bigger bullies, the boys were thugs but they were manipulators.

He targeted specifically the girls because he remembers the cruel things they've said to him and Dorothy lied about him forcing himself on her..
Really I think it was said, in interview or more likely commentary, that a sequel was planned where he'd go for the guys next, but since the movie didn't do so well, they didn't bother.
So my headcanon says that he already went after the guys, or was going to go for them shortly after movie's events, then Kate founds out the truth and she's eventually the one to kill him.
The boys who beat him up were a completely reactionary factor. They never would have attacked him if Dorothy hadn't lied.
It's got nothing to do with gender. Simple cause and effect.
