First of all, he wouldn't let her into his house when she decided to tell him she was pregnant. Then he proceeded to practically beat her when he found out she was pregnant. He let his best friend rape his own girlfriend. I think she was more like a person who he could tell his stories about bobby's abuse to, and complain about being beaten up. He had every chance to stop his relationship with bobby. He didn't want to.

but then again, when she suggested murdering Bobby, he did everything she told him. in Lisa's mind, if Bobby was killed, their "relationship" would get better. but in the book, the very next day he was the same old abusive Marty. the movie makes the Marty & Lisa "realationship" appear to be bette after Bobby's killing, but uh no.
