Bobby was horrible, but he did not deserve to be murdered.
So why did Marty continue to hang out with him? Why didn't he just disassociate himself from Bobby after high school when he was supposedly an adult?
And after Bobby raped Ali, why on earth would she agree to be bait -- twice?
These have to have been some of the most immature kids on the planet. It was like a game to them and they were just trying to be cool -- or were just bored to death because all they did was do drugs and have sex. "Hey Ali, i'm going to kill Bobby. Want to come help?" "Oh, sure. And i'll bring a date."
If the movie is true to life, then Lisa is one of the most dispicable people on the planet. She wanted Bobby dead, but didn't want to get her hands dirty. Every one is responsible for their own actions, but she was the catalyst in the murder. Being an instigator is one of the lowest life forms!
The parents were just unbelievable as well. It was the pot calling the kettle black when Lisa's mom asked where their parents were. Where were they? They were enabling them, just like she was. The "kids" had a place to live, food to eat, transportation, etc. Ali was spoiled rotten! It's too bad Marty's folks didn't see that he needed psychological help. He kept telling them he wanted to move. It's too bad they didn't listen to him.

all this money to keep them in jail over a rapist is ridiculous though ok admit that. and he is a rapist he deserves death. lisa was raped, alli was raped but they took justice into their own hands which is illegal. the police wouldnt have done much though probably. too bad bobbys dad didnt move them like he planned

you need to understand that the rape of Ali, was not this guys primary crime, would not even be in the worst 5.
It was not even really the prime driver for killing him.
Lisa was the prime-mover for offing him, and even she was not mainly motivated by her buddy getting date-raped by him.
this guy was sub-human long before and besides that incident.

you are using a loaded judgement word by referring to it as a 'murder"...sure, that's what it was in law.
and he was more than merely 'horrible"...horrible is maybe dipping some girls pigtails in the inkwells, or blowing someone's mailbox up ..
this guy was serial-killer thrill-killer material himself, anyway, in the depths of his cruelty and depravity...you have to read the book to get what worthless sick vermin he was.
He just needed to go.
